Rules and Regulation

  1. All Students who visit the library should produce their Identity card at the entrance every time.
  2. Bags, briefcases, handbags, parcels, aprons or other receptacles are not allowed inside the library. Such bags, briefcases, handbags, etc. may be left in the property counter provided in the library. Users are advised not to keep valuable things in the property counter. The library accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage of any articles so left.
  3. Personal books are permitted only in the (Level I) reading hall.
  4. Books, journals, etc. taken from the shelves for reading should be left on the tables after use and ‘not’ to be replaced on the shelves.
  5. All users leaving the library must show all books, folders, papers, etc. in their possession whether these belong to the library or not at the counter of the reading hall. Users may also be required to reveal any receptacle carried out of the library.
  6. All books/journals and other library materials are to be used with utmost care.
  7. Engaging in conversation/discussion/group study inside the Library is strictly prohibited.
  8. No user shall deface the library books in any form like underlining or scribbling notes in the margins, etc.
  9. Chairs and tables and other library equipment, fittings and furniture may not be marked, defaced, disarranged. Users should not place their feet on chairs or tables.
  10. Users should not reserve seats either for themselves or for others by leaving library material or personal property on a reading table/seats.
  11. The library cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage of personal belongings.
  12. Smoking, eating, drinking, sleeping and conversations are strictly prohibited in the Library.
  13. Mobiles phones are to be switched of or to be kept on silent mode when you are inside the Library.
  14. Strict silence, decorum and discipline must be maintained in the Library.
  15. Users should behave in a reasonable and dignified fashion in the Library and must not disturb other users.
  16. Copy right law should be strictly observed by all library users when making copies of library materials.
  17. Computers are for educational use only. The use of the Internet in the library is for reference work. Accessing unauthorized sites, playing games, chatting etc. are strictly prohibited.
  18. Library users should not change settings on the computers provided in the library.
  19. No library materials will be issued for outside use for students.
  20. All users must follow the dress code of the University while visiting the library.
  21. Sitting on the staircases/corridors/lobby areas is strictly prohibited.
  22. Users are required to vacate the Library at designated closing times, upon hearing alarm bells.
  23. Users may not connect to the Library's electrical, data or telephone supply.
  24. Damage/Loss to any of the library property including books is subject to levy of hefty fine, including the recovery cost of the damaged articles.
  25. The above mentioned rules and regulations are subject to periodical reviews and revisions. Failure to comply with library rules and regulations may result in the loss of library privileges and may lead to College or University disciplinary procedures.
