Joel Scott, a 19-year-old from Laurel, died in an accident, he was driving with his girlfriend, Autumn Letson, just before the Bogue Homa Creek bridge on Highway 84 East when they were struck by a Ford F-150 driven by Carlos Jose Osorio Romero, a 21-year-old from Laurel.
The impact was so severe that the 2019 Range Rover they were in did not stand a chance. The collision claimed the lives of Scott, Letson, and Romero, leaving families and friends grappling with the devastating loss.

Tragedy struck on U.S.-84 East at Bogue Homa near Magnolia Road, as the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash that occurred at around 6:30 p.m. Volunteers from multiple fire departments, including Glade, Powers, M & M, Sandersville and Rustin, rushed to the scene to help.
Upon arrival, they were met with a horrifying sight as both vehicles were fully engulfed in flames.
